What Can I Build?
It doesn’t matter what you want to build... If the county won’t let you build it.
All county and city building departments have zoning requirements. The zoning in
your area will dictate what you can and can not build. So next we need to check
what your zoning area your in.
Keep these in mind...
1. You have “set backs”. Which means you have to stay a certain distance away from
all your property lines.
2. Zoning sets your height and size limits as well as access driveway requirements.
3. If your in a HOA they will require to adhere to their requirements to get their
approval to build.
Size really does matter!
Extra’s and Custom Upgrades
An Attached Garageis convenient especially during bad weather. The garage is attached
directly to the house with a fire resistant doorway into the house.
A Detached Garagehas its advantages. You can set a detached garage away from
your house and street so that it does not detract from the architecture of your existing
house. A detached garage also eliminates the concern of automobile fumes or a garage
fire from affecting the house.
A bare-bones garage is usually built with 2x4 frame construction. No interior trim
such as drywall or insulation would be included. A basic garage would probably have
one electrical circuit, a concrete slab floor, and a single or double garage door.
A custom garage can be built in many different ways. Typically with Concrete Block
construction. Many have insulation and drywall as well as multi-circuit electrical
systems. The exterior facade usually matches the facade your home.
What size garage do you want? One thing we get asked is “how big should I build
my garage?”. I’ve never seen a garage that was Too Big! No matter how big we build
a garage for a customer they always seem to fill it up. So the question is: What
do you want to accomplish with your new garage? The general rule of thumb is to
build a slightly bigger garage than you need, because you will quickly grow into
it. The bigger the garage you build the more you get for your money.

permit to final, it all depends on the complexity of your project. So when your
